چکیده

A gradient elution column chromatography technique and a step-wise technique succeeded in differentiating between IAA and the citrus auxin. IAA was eluted ahead of the citrus auxin in both systems. The highest Avena curvature ever obtained from the citrus auxin occurred after the auxin had passed through the 2 purification techniques and a paper chromatography step. This is probably due to the elimination of inhibitors. Fluorometric assay, Ehrlich's reaction, thin-layer chromatography, and biological assay were used for the detection of IAA or citrus auxin in the column eluates.

The auxin induced curvature of citrus petals.

The curvature of citrus petals was studied, using petals implanted in an agar-sucrose medium. Applications of indoleacetic acid and p-chlorophenoxyisobutyric acid and determinations of endogenous auxins indicate that the bending of citrus petals is an auxin-mediated process.

Inhibition of Polar Indole-3-acetic Acid Transport by Cycloheximide.

Cycloheximide inhibits polar indoleacetic acid transport in midrib tissues of leaves of citrus (Citrus sinensis [L.] Osbeck) and poplar (Populus deltoides Bartr.) as measured by the donor-receiver agar cylinder technique. It appears that the mechanism of auxin transport inhibition by cycloheximide consists in arresting protein synthesis and not in the disruption of energy flow. The interpretati...

Transcriptome Profiling to Understand the Effect of Citrus Rootstocks on the Growth of ‘Shatangju’ Mandarin

To obtain insight into potential mechanisms underlying the influence of rootstock on scion growth, we performed a comparative analysis of 'Shatangju' mandarin grafted onto 5 rootstocks: Fragrant orange (Citrus junons Sieb. ex. Tanaka), Red tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco), 'Shatangju' mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco), Rough lemon (Citrus jambhiri Lush) and Canton lemon (Citrus limonia Os...

Induction of phytohormones and differential gene expression in citrus flowers infected by the fungus Colletotrichum acutatum.

Colletotrichum acutatum infects citrus petals and induces premature fruit drop and the formation of persistent calyces. The accumulation of hormones and other growth regulators, and differential gene expression in affected flowers and young fruit, was examined following fungal infection. Ethylene evolution increased threefold and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) accumulation was as much as 140 times....

Fruit load induces changes in global gene expression and in abscisic acid (ABA) and indole acetic acid (IAA) homeostasis in citrus buds

Many fruit trees undergo cycles of heavy fruit load (ON-Crop) in one year, followed by low fruit load (OFF-Crop) the following year, a phenomenon known as alternate bearing (AB). The mechanism by which fruit load affects flowering induction during the following year (return bloom) is still unclear. Although not proven, it is commonly accepted that the fruit or an organ which senses fruit presen...
